Expanded Pro Tools|HD® systems offer professionals the most powerful solutions for music and post in the industry. With up to six DSP cards* working in tandem, expanded Pro Tools|HD systems offer unrivaled power for the largest and most complex sessions.

Qualified host computers limit Pro Tools|HD systems to three-card configurations. Expanded Pro Tools|HD systems overcome this limitation by using a single Host card (PCI or PCIe) to connect to the Digidesign Expansion|HD chassis, a 4U rackmount unit capable of housing up to six Digidesign PCI DSP cards.

Note: All Pro Tools|HD systems require the presence of at least one Pro Tools|HD audio interface (purchased separately). Add interfaces to extend your I/O capabilities.

* Expanded Pro Tools|HD Accel systems can only be comprised of PCI DSP cards.

Expanded System Components

  • Pro Tools|HD 3 Accel (for PCI) - The most powerful of the base Core systems, Pro Tools|HD 3 Accel combines three specialized DSP cards with the processing resources of your computer to deliver awesome audio performance, large track counts, and impressive plug-in processing power.
  • HD Accel Card (for PCI) - Designed to complement Pro Tools|HD core systems, HD Accel cards (for PCI or PCIe) feature 9 DSP chips that provide support for an additional 32 channels of I/O and expanded processing capabilities.
  • Digidesign Expansion|HD 6-slot PCI expansion chassis - Featuring six available PCI slots, the Digidesign Expansion|HD chassis connects to the host computer via a Host PCI card or Host PCI Express (PCIe) card (each sold separately). The chassis includes a thin and flexible five-meter cable, but it can accommodate up to a ten-meter cable.
